Diagnosis
Endoscopy: Endoscopy in a dog
This diagnostic tool allows visualisation and biopsy of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract and urogenital tract.
In small animals with severe gastrointestinal disease, gut biopsies are often required to reach a diagnosis, however surgery in such cases may be dangerous as wound healing may be delayed. Endoscopic gut biopsies are used in such cases to reach a diagnosis with minimal risks to the patient.
Radiography: Lung metastases in a dog
Radiographs are used in conjunction with ultrasound to identify abnormal processes within the chest and abdominal cavities.
Ultrasonography: Ultrasound image
of a normal dog's stomach
Ultrasound is a non-invasive tool which allows the architecture of internal organs to be assessed. This is used in the diagnostic investigation of animals with gastrointestinal disease to assess stomach and intestinal wall thickness and gut motility. Tumours of the abdominal organs can often be identified using ultrasound.

Blood Analysers: In-house blood analyser
In-house blood analysers are vital for rapid assessment of abnormalities in critical patients.

Facilities are also available to measure blood gases and ionised calcium in-house.
