Endoscopy: Endoscopy in a dog This diagnostic tool allows visualisation and biopsy of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract and urogenital tract. In small animals with severe gastrointestinal disease, gut biopsies are often required to reach a diagnosis, however surgery in such cases may be dangerous as wound healing may be delayed. Endoscopic gut biopsies are used in such cases to reach a diagnosis with minimal risks to the patient. |
